Below is a chronology of my planting activities which I will add to throughout the year:

3rd January: first sowing, of onion sets and garlic.

22nd January: first early carrot seeds planted

February: first early potatoes (Maris bard variety)

March:

I have been hard at work in the veg patch over the weekends, and on any light evenings when I am home from work early enough, so have really got ahead with my planting this month.  Already sown in the veg patch are:

Parsnips
Carrots
Webbs lettuce
Beetroot
turnips
onion sets
radishes

As it has been such warm weather this March, I have pressed ahead with some early planting of beans etc, hopeful that any frosts will not be ruinous.  In raised beds, to grow as seedlings before planting on, this month I have done first plantings of:

broad beans
French dwarf beans
French climbing beans
Runner beans
peas
Swiss chard
Lollo rosso lettuce
coriander
rocket
